Rama’s forces reach the ocean. Through effort, planning and collective commitment they build a causeway toward Lanka, associated in tradition with Nala and the vanara army. Vibhishana leaves Ravana and seeks refuge with Rama, who offers protection. The armies arrive near Lanka and negotiations fail to avert battle.
